Crows are black but they are also reflective. As this crow flew away from me his colouring changed to a muted blue, echoing the the dull evening November sky. The photograph that I captured showed several colours in his plumage, mirroring the sky, trees, roadway and snow. Perhaps the reflective quality of his feathers also breaks up the light, which may account for the variety of colours seen in my photo, and in this painting.
